Opera To Explore Blockchain Possibilities With Ledger Capital

The Norwegian browser maker Opera has reportedly partnered with Ledger Capital, a strategic blockchain advisory and financial services firm, to explore potential applications of blockchain technology. The two companies aim to initiate growth opportunities that could be applied to Opera products.

Earlier this year in July, Opera introduced a built-in crypto wallet to bypass the need for separate Dapp browsers or crypto wallet extensions, hence making it easier for users and developers to join in on the web of the future. It is also the first major mobile browser to add Web 3.0 support. This partnership further aims extensive inquiry into the integration and innovation of blockchain technology and its mainstream adoption with cryptocurrencies. With a crypto wallet built-in in a browser, the audience, as well as the creators, are likely to explore its possible usage.

Having a crypto wallet in the browser brings the cash experience to the world of online payments.”, said Charles Hamel, Product Lead of Opera’s crypto wallet. “Paying with the crypto wallet is like sending digital cash straight from your phone, and we’ve just made it easier. This opens up new possibilities for merchants and content creators alike.

Opera listed on Nasdaq under the ticker OPRA in July this year. Since then, several parties have purchased big amounts of shares from the company. And with the past year and a half experiencing immense activity around the cryptocurrency market, this might be the right time to explore the needs of the said 300 million users worldwide for Opera.
