Coincheck Hacked, $523 million NEM stolen, will refund to customers

Coincheck, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Japan was hacked on Jan 26 and hackers have stolen $523 million worth of NEM coins 260,000 accounts.

Coincheck has agreed to issue a full refund to all of the accounts, according to a news published on Coincheck via Cointelegraph. Coincheck will use its own money to do the refund.

Cryptocurrency exchanges and digital wallets have become a target of digital hackers and this is not the first-time hackers have gotten away with millions. Earlier this year, several exchanges and digital lockers have been victims of the hackers.

Some digital locker creators area offering hard digital wallets that can be used as offline storage of digital assets.
